[Penang travel tips]
Sunway or Glow Hotel is one of the BEST option. WHY? Here's the reason:
Lots of food to eat nearby Sunway Hotel. Walking distance from Sunway Hotel,about 1 minute there is this New Lane Street food. More than 30 stalls of food to explore. The food that not to be missed are the Fried Kuey Teow outside of the first coffee shop,the Batu Maung satay, Chee Cheong Fun,Porridge and Oh Chien.
Across the road at Macalister Road which is just opposite BSN Bank,there is this Penang Famous Dim Sum that you could not miss. Further down,there are few chinese kopitiam and one food court: Sin Kim San where you can find lots of food stalls. There is also a mamak restaurant if you would like to try the Nasi Kandar,Roti Prata,Teh Tarik,Maggi Goreng. If you love to have BBQ Steamboat, there is one located along Macalister Road just opposite of Ban Heang.
There are 5 banks around there too!10 minutes walk away, you can find the expensive but famous Sister's Fried Kuey Teow and Penang Curry Mee. Over at the other side,which is the right side on Sunway Hotel, you can find the Penang Times Square mall. There, you can have your 24 hours McDonald's fast food and also clubbing at Soju Club.
If you feel hungry at night and would like to have supper, you can walk to Pelita Nasi Kandar restaurant or Jiao Sai for some local famous mamak food ,which is located beside Red Rock Hotel. Jiao Sai is a stall that sells mamak food too. Try their Tomyam Fried Maggi,my favourite!! For your info, Penang is the most famous state in Malaysia for Mamak food such as Nasi Kandar. Famous as being the most delicious and tasty Nasi Kandar in Malaysia,where the taste are more authentic and the curries are more spicy and kau!
If you love to try some local breakfast, you can walk to Lorong Kinta, where there is a daily morning market which is about 10 mins walk,slightly further down from Penang Times Square, you can find lots of local food. Alot of delicious food that are worth to try over there.
For confectioneries, Ban Heang Tau Sar Pneah is just beside Sunway Hotel if you intend to buy some back for your families,colleagues or relatives. In short, you won't die of hunger staying in Sunway Hotel. There are food around there 24-7!
